The AEONrv Founder Story: From High-Tech Roots to Scaling RV Manufacturing
At AEONrv, everything we do comes back to one core belief: customers deserve better. Better design, better materials, better technology — and a better experience from start to finish.
In this exclusive interview, cofounders Jim Ritchie and Lars Sevrin share the story of how AEONrv began, why they call themselves customer obsessed, and where we’re headed in 2025 and beyond.

Most great ideas start with a simple question: “Why doesn’t this exist already?”
For AEONrv cofounders Jim Ritchie and Lars Sevrin, that question came during countless ski trips and backcountry adventures. Both are avid skiers who wanted a vehicle that could take them deep into the mountains, that could handle winter camping, drive rugged trails like a true off-road RV, and still deliver the comforts of home after a long day in the mountains.
But when they looked at what the van and RV market had to offer, nothing matched their vision:
- Camper vans lacked insulation and couldn’t perform in all seasons.
- Traditional RVs were bulky, outdated, and not designed for overlanding.
- Some expedition rigs could go off-grid, but they often sacrificed comfort and practicality.
So Jim and Lars set out to build what they couldn’t find: a true all-season, off-grid RV that merges technology, durability, and comfort into one platform. The result is the AEONrv — an electric cabin RV built for overlanding, off-road adventures, and year-round exploration.
Why AEONrv Was Born
Jim and Lars wanted a rig that could let them chase powder days in the Sierra, tackle rugged desert trails in Utah, or take off on a cross-country adventure. But more importantly, they wanted the freedom to camp anywhere — without hookups, RV parks, or crowded campgrounds.
AEONrv was designed for boondocking and dispersed camping, powered entirely by renewable solar energy and high-capacity lithium batteries. That means no propane tanks to carry, no reliance on generators, and no limits on where you can stay. Whether parked deep in the backcountry or overlooking a quiet lakeside, AEONrv delivers all the comforts of home — from on-demand hot water to heat, air conditioning, and cooking — without needing to plug in.
Built for All Seasons and All Roads
That vision meant designing an RV with:
- All-season capability: Highly insulated fiberglass-reinforced panels (average R-15) keep the cabin warm in blizzards and cool in summer heat.
- Off-grid power: A 10.9kWh lithium battery system, expandable to 13.6kWh, paired with 800W solar for true independence.
- Comforts of home: On-demand hot water, a queen bed plus convertible dinette, and a full bath with indoor/outdoor shower.
- Adventure-ready off-road features: AWD Ford Transit chassis, 2” lift, skid plates, all-terrain tires, and a heated gear garage for skis, bikes, and overlanding gear.
As Jim shares in the interview: “We wanted something that let us spend more time skiing and less time worrying about whether our RV could handle the conditions.”
Scaling in 2025 and Beyond
The founder story also looks ahead to what’s next:
- The 2025 AEONrv model, refined with customer-driven upgrades and adventure-ready options.
- The AEONrv Road Tour, bringing the vehicle to overlanding events and connecting with adventurers across the U.S.
- Scaling production in Reno, NV, where AEONrv is building one of the most advanced manufacturing facilities in the RV space — with the goal of delivering 100 vehicles this year.
Customer Obsession Drives Everything
AEONrv was designed for real people who love overlanding, off-road camping, and winter adventures. Every feature — from marine-grade wiring to a two-stage water filtration system — is a direct response to what customers need in an off-grid RV.
Join the Movement
What began as a personal need has become a new standard in the RV industry. Built for those who want to go beyond the pavement, AEONrv delivers the freedom to explore all seasons, all terrains, and all adventures — without being limited to RV parks or hookups.
